Did mountain house have a recall?

I was a t Wally world buying up the last of their MH packages and when I got to the register and was ringing up, half my items rang up, "purchase not allowed" The gal called the manager and he said there must be a recall of some sort and would'nt allow me to purchase my items. Grr. I didn't hear of a recall, what is up?

Wow........

That is spooky.... I didnt know they that the big boxers can block purchases at the register just from scanning the item.

Dam....... that is BAD NEWS.

Recalled. That's a nice term. I would think commandeered would be more appropriate.

Makes sense. Mountain House puts out a recall, gets the stuff back, and then sells it to the Feds - who have no doubt paid for a large order that MH couldn't fill any other way right now. Of course the Feds will make it worth their while. Why not? It's not like they have to earn the money.... :thumpdown

About 7-10 days ago, I know there was a recall of some recent MH ice cream sandwiches--a few were in wrong packaging with a couple of ingredients that were different, making for them a risk for allergic reactions in those susceptible.

Seems weird that a store would be aware of a recall without having pulled the product off the floor.

I have to go past Wal-Mart on the way home. I'll stop and grab a few MH pouches from the camping section and see what happens. I'll report back later this evening...

Chomping at the bit for the report.

Re: Did mountain house have a recall?

Two observations on my Wal-Mart stop...

1) I bought 6 MH packets. All rang up fine. I even bought some odd things that I didn't already have. No problems with the purchase.

2) I bought odd things because THAT IS ALL THEY HAD. 6 2-person packets. I'm going to guess they usually have somewhere in the area of 50 or 60 packets total. I bought the last 6 this evening. I've never seen that before, at least not at our local WM.

Getting a little short from people stocking up for summer camping season, or is something really up??? Hmmm...I'll have to keep an eye out and see if/when they restock...

My local Wal-Mart doesn't seem to even stock these. But they have an odd setup for this type of stuff anyway.

Ok well that dose explain it because I did have a pile of ice cream. It is strange that they didn't pull it though....

I'm sure all the registers are automatically updated. Why have their employees pull it when you can do it for them? I think that stinks. You waste your time determining whether you wanted to make the purchase and then you end up working for them. Send them an invoice.

Wow. First time that I've seen Vitacost be out of stock on so many MH items.

Re: Did mountain house have a recall?

I bought some MH cases a couple months ago but my sources are completely out now. I have been adding some canned goods designed for indefinite storage for now. I may add some canned meats and fruits for shorter term storage a I cycle through the current inventory.

(Actually I've been adding ammo, mags, accessories and an occassional firearm before that bastard communist Kommissar Barak Hussein Obama gets sworn it and the SHTF)
